This is one of his most successful plays and Neil Simon is one of the great playwrights of our generation. A hilarious comedy about four couples celebrating the 10th wedding anniversary of one of their friends. The couples arrive at the party only to find a rapidly developing set of unexpected, unlikely and unusual set of circumstances that creates the humor that unfolds. Neil Simon is a master at transforming the mundane into moments of complete insanity - a telephone call turns into a relay of confusing and distorted messages, the preparation of dinner turns into some of the silliest moments in the play and the fun only becomes even more hilarious as the couples attempt to cover things up once the police arrive.
"Rumors" opened on Broadway in 1988 and won the Tony Award for Best Performance by a Featured Actress. Neil Simon has been quoted as saying "This is completely different for me"It's unlike anything I've ever written. It's my first farce".
The Saybrook Stage Company is very excited to be returning to The Kate - their last production of "Almost, Maine" this past January was extremely well received to a completely sold out audience throughout the weekend.
